Vacancy Details :

Education Qualification :

Vehicle Mechanic:

• Matriculation and Possessing certificate of Mechanic in Motor Vehicle / Diesel / Heat Engine. OR
• Possessing certificate of mechanic in internal Combustion Engine / Tractor from Industrial Training Institute or equivalent; OR
• Having passed the Defence Trade Certificate from an Army Institute; or similar establishment of Defence or having passed Vehicle Mechanic Class II Course as laid down in Defence Service Regulations, (Qualification Regulations for Soldiers) from office of Records or Centres or similar establishment of Defence.

Radio Mechanic:

• Matriculation and Possessing Radio Mechanic Certificate from ITI with two years experience as Radio Mechanic in a Government, Public or Private Sector enterprises; OR
• Possessing Defence Trade Certificate from an Army Institute or similar establishment of Defence with two years experience in Radio Technology: OR
• Having passed Class I Course for Wireless Operator and Key Board as laid down in Defence Service Regulations (Qualification Regulations for Soldiers) from office of Records or Centres or similar establishment of Defence.

Operator (Communication):

• Matriculation and Possessing Wireless Operator or Radio Mechanic Certificate from Industrial Training Institute or equivalent; OR
• Defence Trade Certificate from an Army Institute or similar establishment of Defence with knowledge of Radio Technology; OR
• Having passed Class I Course for Wireless Operator and Key Board as laid down in Defence Service Regulations (Qualification Regulations for Soldiers) from office of Records or Centres or similar establishment of Defence.

Driver Mechanical Transport (Ordinary Grade):

• Matriculation and Possessing a heavy Motor vehicle driving licence: OR
• Having passed class III Course for Driver Plant Mechanical Transport as laid down in Defence Service Regulations (Qualification Regulations for Soldiers) from office of Records or Centres or similar establishment of Defence.

Multi Skilled Worker Driller:

• Matriculation from a recognized Board or equivalent; and
• Should qualify in proficiency test in the trade to be conducted by Border Roads Organisation.
• Should qualify physical tests as per Border Roads Organisation guidelines.
• Should meet physical and medical standards as per Border Roads Organisation guidelines.

Multi Skilled Worker Mason:

• Matriculation and Possessing certificate of Building construction / Bricks Mason from Industrial Training Institute / Industrial Trade Certificate / National Council for Training in the Vocational Trades / State Council for Vocational Training OR
• Passed Certificate Class II for Mason as laid down in Defence Service Regulations, (Qualification Regulations for Soldiers) from office of Records / Centres or similar establishment of Defence.
• Should qualify in proficiency test in the trade to be conducted by Border Roads Organisation.
• Should qualify physical tests as per Border Roads Organisation guidelines.
• Should meet physical and medical standards as per Border Roads Organisation guidelines.

Multi Skilled Worker Painter:

• Matriculation and Painter Certificate from Industrial Training Institute /Industrial Trade Certificate / National Council for Training in the Vocational Trades / State Council for Vocational Training. OR
• Passed Class 2 course for painting as laid down in Defence Service Regulations, (Qualification Regulations, for soldiers) from office of Records/Centres or similar establishment of Defence.
• Should qualify in proficiency test in the trade to be conducted by Border Roads Organisation.
• Should qualify physical tests as per Border Roads Organisation guidelines.
• Should meet physical and medical standards as per Border Roads Organisation guidelines.

Multi Skilled Worker Mess Waiter:

• Matriculation from a recognized Board or equivalent;
• Should qualify in proficiency test in the trade to be conducted by Border Roads Organisation.

• Radio Mechanic : Pay Level 4 (Rs. 25,500 – 81,100)
• Operator (Communication): Pay Level 2 (Rs. 19,900 – 63,200)
• Driver Mechanical Transport (OG): Pay Level 2 (Rs. 19,900 – 63,200).
• Vehicle Mechanic: Pay Level 2 (Rs. 19,900 – 63,200).
• Multi Skilled Worker (Driller) : Pay Level 1 (Rs. 18,000 – 56,900)
• Multi Skilled Worker Mason: Pay Level 1 (Rs. 18,000 – 56,900)
• Multi Skilled Worker Painter: Pay Level 1 (Rs. 18,000 – 56,900)

BRO Selection Process :

• Written Exam
• Physical Efficiency Test (PET/ PST)
• Practical/ Trade Test

BRO Vehicle Mechanic Written Exam:

Exam Pattern:

• Question paper will be answered in blue/black ball point pen only.
• The syllabus for the written examination will generally be in conformity with the educational standards and/or technical and other requisite essential qualifications prescribed for the posts.
• The questions will be of objective type or subjective type or objective and subjective both as per syllabus mentioned below and those subjects covered as part of minimum educational/technical qualification for the post.
• The question paper will be bilingual i.e. English and Hindi and the duration of the examination may vary from 1hrs to 3hrs depending upon the trade.
• The objective type Questions will be OMR based and subjective questions have to be answered in the answer sheet.

Minimum passing marks for UR, EWSs & OBC category is 50% and for SC & ST category is 40%.

Syllabus for Written Exam:

Multi Skilled Worker Painter:

1. Cutting of Stencils
2. Letter writing of English and Hindi alphabets & numerals of specific size
3. Making of drawings
4. Questions on painting & polishing/varnishing of wood
5. Knowledge of different types of paints
6. Preparation & storage of paints & varnishes
7. General Knowledge.

Multi Skilled Worker Mess Waiter:

1. Handling & identification of different types of crockery
2. Maint of Room
3. Food service etiquettes
4. Beverage service etiquettes
5. General Knowledge

Vehicle Mechanic:

• Operations of petrol / diesel engines
• Checking of faults
• Repair & maintenance of engine
• Repair & Maintenance of fuel system
• Repair & Maintenance of break system
• Repair & Maintenance of clutch system
• Repair & Maintenance of chassis
• General Knowledge

Driver Mechanical Transport (Ordinary Grade)

• Maintenance of heavy / light vehicle
• Use of Oiles / lubricants
• Daily / periodic checking
• Tyre rotation
• Road signs
• Traffic Rules
• Use of Tools
• General knowledge.

Physical Efficiency Test:

Candidates will undergo physical efficiency test based on call letter issued and candidates those who qualify in the
physical test will only be allowed to attend the further practical test as applicable to the post.

Practical / Trade Test:

Candidates will undergo Practical / Trade test wherever applicable and those who qualify in Practical / Trade Test will only be considered for the final merit list based on marks in the written exam.

Syllabus for Written Exam:

Practical Test/Skill Test is conducted at GREF Centre or any other centre, minimum 40% marks are required to qualify and is applicable for following posts:

Multi Skilled Worker Painter:

1. Mixing of paints
2. Preparation of surface for painting
3. Polishing/vanishing
4. Identification of brushes as per use
5. Removal of old paint

Multi Skilled Worker Mess Waiter:

• Beverage serving etiquette
• Food serving etiquettes
• Use of different types of crockery/cutlery
• Laying out a dining table for various occasions
• Preparation of bed
• Identification of food/beverage

Vehicle Mechanic

• Identification of engine parts
• Identification of parts of transmission system
• Identification of parts of fuel system
• Identification of different Lubricants / oils
• Identification of tools, eqpts.

Driver Mechanical Transport (Ordinary Grade):

• Maneuvering of slope without slipping
• Driving of vehs on a driving track (‘8’)
• Reverse parking

MSW Mason :

• Questions on concrete & concrete mixing
• Brick/stone masonry works
• Pier & arches
• Different types of floors
• Pointing
• Different types of cement Mortar & its use
• Plastering
• Use of staging & shuttering
