Educational Qualification :
ST/SA – Diploma Holders:
- Diploma with not less than 60% marks in Mechanical / Electrical / Electronics Engineering recognized by the Government of India, Ministry of Human Resource Development. The diploma in Engineering should be of 03 years duration after SSC/HSC. OR
- Two years Diploma through Lateral entry to 2nd year after HSC approved by AICTE with not less than 60% marks in Mechanical/ Electrical / Electronics Engineering.
- Should have had English as one of the subjects either at SSC or at HSC level examination.
ST/SA – Science Graduates:
- B.Sc. with a minimum of 60% marks. B.Sc. shall be with Physics as principal and Chemistry / Mathematics / Statistics / Electronics & Computer Science as subsidiary OR with Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics as subjects with equal weightage.
- Mathematics at H.S.C. (10+2) level is essential.
- English as one of the subjects either at SSC or at HSC level examinations is compulsory.
- Candidates having Mathematics as the principal subject at B.Sc. are not eligible.
ST/TN (Category-Il) – Maintainer:
- SSC (10 years) with minimum 50% in Science subject and Mathematics individually and 2 years ITI certificate in relevant trade (Electrician, Fitter, Electronics, Instrumentation, Machinist, Turner & Welder).
- For trades for which the duration of the ITI course is less than 2 years, the candidates shall have at least one year relevant working experience after completion of the course.
- Shall have English as one of the subjects at least at SSC level examination.
ST/TM (Category II) – Plant Operator:
- Pass HSC (10+2) or ISC with Science subjects.
- Not less than 50% marks in Science and Mathematics individually.
- English must have been studied up to SSC level.
Assistant Grade-1:
- Any Bachelor’s Degree with Minimum 50% marks in aggregate from a recognized University / Institution.

Salary Details :
- During 1st year of training stipend of Rs. 24000/- Per Month.
- During 2nd year of training stipend of Rs. 26000/- Per Month.
- Book allowance (one time grant) – Rs. 3000/-
- After successful completion of training, the trainees are likely to be considered for appointment to the post of Scientific Assistant/B (Group-B) in the pay of Rs. 35400/- in level 6 of Revised Pay Structure (Pay Matrix) under CCS (RP) Rules, 2016.
- After Successful Training Approximate Monthly Emoluments (Pay + DA) Rs. 51684/-
Selection Process :

Stipendiary Trainee / Scientific Assistant
- Selection process would consist of a Written Test + Personal Interview.
- The duration of examination will be of 1.5 Hrs.
- 02 (two) mark will be awarded for each correct answer and 0.5 marks will be deducted for each incorrect answer.
- Examination will comprise 50 multiple choice questions (Choice of four answers) and for 100 marks in the following proportion
Assistant Grade-1
- The selection process for NPCIL Assistant Grade-1 Recruitment 2025 includes three stages including the written examination, the Typing Test on the Computer, and the Computer Proficiency Test (CPT). The written examination will be in two stages i.e. Stage-1: Preliminary Test and Stage-2: Advanced Test.
- The written exam includes General Knowledge & Current Affairs- 25 Questions, Computer Knowledge-15 Questions, and English- 10 Questions. The written test will be of one-hour duration for a maximum of 150 marks. Three marks will be awarded for each correct answer and 1 mark will be deducted for each incorrect answer.
- The qualifying standards for the stage-2 written test shall be as follows: General Category- 40% Marks, SC/ ST/ OBC (NCL)/ EWS/ PwBD- 30% Marks.
